Just caught the tail end of Non Plus post show Karaoke at the Smog Cutter. What a night!
We got a pick in the LA Weekly.
Thank you to Christopher Reid Martin, Gabie Strong, and Andrew Scott for setting up this killer show. Beautiful poster by Christopher Reid Martin.
White Out is taking a trip to the West Coast and playing this excellent show in Los Angeles with Bill Nace. Many thanks to Devin Sarno of GE Stinson/Devin Sarno/Danny Frankel trio for setting it up. Here’s the poster by Bill Nace.
Long time White Out supporter Brad Cohen of the New York Observer has included our new album with Nels Cline Accidental Sky on his Best Experimental Albums of 2015 list. Thanks Brad!! A really deep list so check it out. Cover photo is of Nels performing on a roof in Los Angeles.
Vinyl is back. I know because our album Accidental Sky is at both Target and Best Buy and available for ordering with NO SHIPPING! If there is an adventurous soul on your Christmas list maybe this is just the thing. The vinyl sounds incredibly detailed due in a large part to Paul Gold’s mastering no doubt.
Come on down Monday December 14th to this always interesting monthly series. Good friends Nymph and Roe Enney are on the bill as well as the legendary Jon Gibson.
Come on down and commence your Christmas music shopping while we serenade you with some free jams. The vinyl version of Accidental Sky is now available at OM. Free admission.
Here’s the specifics. WHITE OUT IN-STORE AT OTHER MUSIC
Here are some links to a bunch of reviews for the new LP Accidental Sky. Thanks to everyone who listened!
“In a world where many will release countless recordings every year, the infrequency of White Out missives means they are something to be eagerly anticipated and cherished on arrival. Accidental Sky is both these things and more.” Free Jazz Collective
“Accidental Sky rolls and rumbles beautifully throughout its seven adventurous tracks… what impresses most is the overall interplay — these are musicians who are actually listening closely to one another, no matter how far out they go in their improvisations.” Other Music
“Wade into the haze and scramble your mind.” The Big Takeover
We are honored to be part of Zeena Parkins’s week long residency at The Stone in NYC. Our set is at 10pm and The Stone is at 2nd Street and Avenue C. This is a pic of us performing together at the Whitney a while back.
Other Music has some nice words to say about the new release.
Vinyl out on 11/27. An invigorating free-rock workout from New York’s long-running White Out two piece and six-string wizard Nels Cline, Accidental Sky rolls and rumbles beautifully throughout its seven adventurous tracks. Noise lovers will be pleased: the album offers plenty of blistering guitar action, skittering drumkit attacks and clattering keyboards. But in the end, what impresses most is the overall interplay — these are musicians who are actually listening closely to one another, no matter how far out they go in their improvisations. And White Out and Cline also allow space for more introspective moments: dig the lovely flute line that wafts mysteriously in and out of “Under a Void Moon” or the graceful, calm closer “Soft Nameless Absolute.” (October 16, 2015)
